The historical society plans to display the banners during patriotic holidays throughout the year to remind the village of what these heroes have done for them.

The first 25 veteran banners made their debut at Friday evening's Honor Walk. Cridersville natives showcased on the banners go as far back as World War II, and some are as recent as the Iraq War. The ceremony included military tributes like the playing of taps, the national anthem, and a flag raising, and many of those in attendance were family or friends of the veterans or were being honored with a banner themselves. If you would like to honor someone who served, the Cridersville Historical Society is still accepting orders for banners.

"We think it's important that all of us have a sense of the liberties that we have in America, the treasures that we all have, have been fought for by lots of people who volunteered or even those that might have been drafted, that fought, and some died. That showed a lot of courage to be able to do that. To protect and defend the constitution and our American way of life," said Greg Myers, president of the Cridersville Historical Society.

If you would like to honor someone who served, the Cridersville Historical Society is still accepting orders for banners. Once made, they can either be taken home or stored by the historical society until it's time to put them on display.
