Delphos makes local spending public

Delphos City School Officials are teaming up with the Ohio Treasurer's Office to announce their efforts to increase the state's transparency on local spending.

A website launched in 2014 by the Ohio Treasurer's Office allows Ohioans to search local municipalities and schools district's spending over the last seven years by simply going online. Brad Rostorfer, Treasurer of Delphos City Schools announced Delphos City Schools will now be a part of the transparency efforts. Rostorfer hopes the community will be empowered to see how their tax dollars are being spent and hold public officials accountable.

"Hopefully it'll allow them to have confidence in the district and be able to get some questions answered or if they do not want to come directly to us which they are always welcomed to do," says Rostorfer.

"So I think the biggest benefit is it allows citizens to see and understand how their tax payer dollars are being spent and can also open up good lines of communication between school districts, local governments and have that line of communication with their citizens," says Andrew Coutts, Public Affairs Officer, State Treasurer of Ohio's Office.

If you would like to access the local government's spending you can log online to OhioCheckBook.com and find it under local government and schools.
