Delphos Recreation Center hosts first Makers Market

DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - Crafters and small business owners sold their products at the first of several planned Makers Markets.

Over a dozen vendors, including some as young as 16 years old, were selling anything from jewelry to homemade bread and art decor at the Delphos Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. The market is a good opportunity to not only make sales but also spread the word about their business. The city has a regular farmers market, but organizers wanted to give more crafty business owners a place to make money this summer.

"I think it's a great opportunity to come out and support people you know and locally. There's a lot of expense involved when you're making your own stuff, so it's just a great way to help out those you know. We have a waiting list, like I said, of additional vendors, but everybody has bought stuff and found things that they wouldn't otherwise find," said Ashley Kill, who started and organized the market.

The next Makers Market is currently being planned for July 20th, during the bowling alley's Christmas in July event.
