
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - More information was revealed during a hearing for a Lima teen who has been charged with murder.

18-year-old Malik Dennis was in Lima Municipal Court this morning. He's facing charges in the shooting death of 14-year-old Lauralye Sterling. Her body was found in a home at 778 Greenlawn Avenue, in the early morning hours of February 13th. Dennis admitted to shooting Sterling when he was interviewed by police detectives following his arrest for the crime. We also learned an alleged robbery may have taken place, prior to the shooting.

"He admitted to firing a shot inside of the house after climbing on the antenna, firing a shot through the window, which there was one hole through the window. She was shot one time," stated Detective Jesse Harrod, Lima Police Department.
Detective Harrod was then asked if Dennis was allegedly robbed the same night at the home where Sterling was killed.

"Minutes before, it was not immediately before the shooting, Mr. Dennis was, initially came over to 778 Greenlawn to meet with either (omitted) or Lauralye Sterling. When he was there, there were two other juvenile subjects in the house, who ultimately robbed Mr. Dennis. Ultimately upset Mr. Dennis, he returned to his house, obtained another firearm and then returned to the house and that's when the shooting happened," stated Detective Harrod.
The case will be presented to the grand jury for additional charges. Dennis is being held on a 2 million dollar bond.
