Nearly 1500 people were expected for lunch at the annual Ellis Family Easter Dinner at the Civic Center in Lima.
The dinner has been an Easter tradition for the past 25 years, but it’s the last one for the Ellis family as they are passing the torch, so to speak to the Tom Ahl Family.
“We just felt like 25 years was a pretty good run and thought of Tom Ahl and he was thrilled to take it over so we’re just glad to see the tradition could continue,” said Kleet Ellis, president of Ellis Door and Window.
Ellis takes away a quarter of a century of memories from the event.
“We’ve had all kinds of good memories. Good people. Great volunteers. The guests that come. We’ve seen the same people over and over and over. It’s really kind of fun,” added Ellis.
Car dealer Tom Ahl is looking forward to resuming the tradition next year.
“Absolutely, I’m amazed what the Ellis family has been doing for the last 25 years. What a testimony. Twenty five years they’ve been doing this and what we’re looking forward to going on next year. Great volunteers. Just great to see so many people come down. What a blessing. Praise the Lord. He is risen today,” said Ahl.
