Essay contest highlights the importance of Dad

The celebration continues for Child Abuse Prevention Month with a contest for local students to share their thoughts on spending time with Dad. Three 5th graders were honored this morning at the Community for Kids Breakfast for their essays explaining what their dads mean to them.

Dre Wilson, from Perry Elementary told Your News Now about his dad, who is encouraging Dre's love for dance with his own love for the lord. Dre's experience illustrated remarks from the keynote speaker, who stressed the importance of a father figure in a child's life.

Dre was rewarded with a $50 chamber gift card, which he says he will use to buy a gift for his little sister.

The two other winners... Cody Wright from Delphos Saint Johns and Ambyr Strickland from Shawnee.
