Family and Children First Council searching for new coordinator

The search for a new coordinator for the Family and Children First Council is in high gear.

After the resignation of the previous coordinator, the council has been doing some strategic planning. There has been an increase in shared funding for the position from the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the Mental Health Board, and the Allen County Children Services Board. They have also decided to shift some responsibilities of the coordinator.

"The Board of DD is going to continue to do the fiscal administration of the grants and all that. It's very time-consuming work that involves a lot of book work and accounting so we're real excited about that and then we're really hoping the coordinator will have more time to do the family and children work that it was originally intended designed. They'll also be located at the commissioner's office so they'll have an office up here which will be different," said Theresa Schnipke, Superintendent of the Allen County Board of Development Disabilities.

Schnipke says they have since found good candidates and interviews are being conducted. They hope to name a new coordinator by the end of July.
