LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Rhodes State College is looking to improve students' success with a new federal grant.

The more than 2.1 million dollar grant is the largest grant that the college has ever received. The money will be used to redesign services on campus, including creating a one-stop student services center to better serve students in a centralized location. The money will also hire new staff, including a social worker and a full-time mental health worker for the campus.

"So, this is going to allow us to really increase the level and quality of service we are providing our students. One of the things that we realized when we developed this grant was that, while we have great services on campus they are not necessarily connected to each other," says Brendan Greaney, VP of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. "And we know that when students are experiencing challenges, whether it be food insecurity or academic challenges they are often facing other challenges. So, by connecting these services together, we will ensure that students don't slip through the cracks here," stated Brendan Greaney, vice president of enrollment management and student affairs.

The implementation of the grant is expected to take around five years.
