Delphos police and the Allen County Sheriff's Department are investigating a stabbing Thursday night.
According to Delphos Police, a 21 year old man was trying to drive himself from Delphos to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
The 21 year old pulled over his vehicle at U.S. 30 and 309.
Medics then transported the man to the hospital with a wound to the head.
Delphos police and a sheriff's deputy later went to Deer Creek Apartments on Lima avenue in Delphos, the location where the stabbing occurred.
According to police a 23 year old man had been at the apartment complex when his estranged 22 year old fiance and her 21 year old boyfriend arrived in the complex as well.
They got into an argument which turned physical for the two men.
The 23 year old man then stabbed the 21 year old man in the face with a large deck type screw.
The screw remained embedded in the man's face until removed by medical staff at the hospital.
The 23 year old claimed he was being assaulted and his actions were in self-defense.
The incident remains under investigation.
