Final Coat Distribution for Seniors Held at Lima Towers

Local health system services held their last Winter coat distribution for the season. Baton Rouge Health Services and Home Health Systems of Lima-Allen County has hosted three coast distributions for people in the area. Seniors age 60 and up visited the Lima Towers to sift through several different coat options. Shawnee, Elida, and Bath High Schools as well as Lima community members collected donations, and Neighborhood Cleaners cleaned each coat for free.

One official tells us this event helps those in our community who can't always help themselves. "This is the winter season, people are looking for you know, elderly are looking for these," said Mosun Enis, RN at Baton Rouge Health Services, "That's what we do, we take care of the, that's our job, so if this is the only thing we can do to keep them comfortable, I think we've achieved something." Enis says it's important to remember the seniors, especially in the colder months. Free blood pressure checks were also performed at the coat distribution.

Some seniors in attendance said they were pleased to be able to pick out their own coats for free. They even offered coats with sports teams, a variety of colors, and different organizations on them.
