Former officer sentenced to 30 days in jail for obstructing justice

ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A former Shawnee Township detective and Apollo Career Center school resource officer has been sentenced after accepting a plea deal last month.

45-year-old Jeremy Shellenbarger was sentenced to 30 days in the Allen County Jail and two years of probation for a felony charge of obstructing justice that occurred during the 2021–2022 school year.

Shellenbarger was originally indicted on counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, but those charges were dropped as part of the deal, which was accepted by the victim. Shellenbarger resigned from the Shawnee Township Police Department after the indictment last September.
