Freedom Elementary Hosts Family Night

Freedom Elementary in Lima celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday in honor of Read Across America month.

The nationwide reading celebration begins on the authors birthday helping build a nation of readers through signature programs. Parents and students got together for snacks and to partake in Dr. Seuss themed activities. Students in pre-school through fourth grade enjoyed book based activities involving reading and math. Students got to make their own cat in the hat hats, graphed goldfish and decorated cupcakes. Some parents even made themselves a hat.

Teacher, Melissa Sweeny says kids enjoy reading Dr. Seuss' books because they use silly rhymes with made up words that keeps readers coming back for more.
