Girl Scouts Learn Leadership, Friendship at Spring Break Day Camp

Area girl scouts are keeping busy even during their spring break, learning leadership skills and developing friendships.

They are out of school this week, but they are still learning at the Girl Scouts Spring Break Day Camp.

"We've been making some different pictures of different princesses and we've also been singing songs and making crafts," said 7-year-old Bella Fry.

"I've been helping little kids with their princesses and their bracelets," said 11-year-old Jenna Lee.

And they had even more planned with games from Spain, making toys from Zambia, and practicing yoga from India, learning what girls do all over the world. The day's activities is designed for them to take home a lesson.

"Know that everybody is different and that we are unique in our own way," said recruiting manager Jennifer Parker.

33 girls, from Kindergarten to 5th grade, from different area schools participated in this Spring Break Day Camp.

"We're hoping that they're meeting some new friends, and learning to be on their own, and a little leadership skills, and being friendly" said Parker.

A Summer Break Day Camp will be held in July and you don't have to be a girl scout to attend. But if you do, the girls say this is what you should expect:

"Being friends, and being nice to each other," Fry said.

"We are all sisters here, and it's just so fun, and everybody is kind to me," Lee said.

And if you are a fan of Girl Scout cookies, a reminder that this is the last weekend for booth sales. Â
