Governor Mike DeWine explains his reason for not debating Nan Whaley

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Earlier this week, Governor Mike DeWine and Republican Senate candidate JD Vance announced that they will not be debating their Democratic challengers Nan Whaley and Tim Ryan respectively before the November 8th general election. DeWine also turned down an opportunity to debate the two other Republican candidates for governor before the primary. So we asked DeWine why he didn't accept the offer to take part in the gubernatorial debate.

Governor Mike DeWine explains his reason for not debating Nan Whaley

"I'm going to be with her at several editorial boards that will be broadcast, at least it will be put up on the internet," says Gov. DeWine. "People have the chance to listen to my answers, listen to her answers. So, there's ample opportunity for people to compare us and I think that comparison is something that people, the public always wanted to do and people are going to have the ability to do that."

The recent polling number from Baldwin Wallace University Community Research Institute and other institutions have DeWine as a double-digit lead over Whaley. And for the Senate race, it is a virtual tie between Vance and Ryan.
