Lima, OH. (WLIO) - Running through a cemetery around this spooky time of year can mean just one thing, it is time for the annual Howl’oween Trick or Trot. This is the 4th year that the Lima Kiwanis Club has put on the event that features a 5k race, a one-mile fun run, and a virtual pet contest. There were around 150 runners and walkers signed up for the run that takes them from Faurot Park through Woodlawn Cemetery and back. The Kiwanis club oversees many youth clubs in Lima City Schools and Heir Force Academy, plus a club at Ohio State Lima. The money raised from the Trick or Trot goes to further their mission to teach those students community services and leadership skills.
“We have a whole Kiwanis family that we try to support,” says Crystal Miller, Kiwanis Club of Lima. “We cover conferences and things like that. Shirts for the kids, different project needs that they have so they can be successful in their ideas and making their visions come to life.”
Participants got a glow-in-the-dark medal for running, and trophies for the best times. The Kiwanis are looking to continue the popular run in the future.
