J.A.M.P.D. to hold open house for new Lauer Historical Farm

The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Parks District is inviting the community to take a step back in history with the newest addition to their parks system.

They are hosting an open house for the new Lauer Historical Farm at 800 Roush Rd. The property features a restored bank barn as well as a farmhouse that will be used for cultural programs showing what life on the farm was like in the 1940's. In the future, the Park District plans on bringing history to life there in a way that is unique to their other properties.

"The Lauer Historical Farm is going to be dated back to the 1930's and 1940's, and it will eventually get to be a working farm with antique tractor shows, antique tractor demonstrations, and possibly farm animals," says J.A.M.P.D. Deputy Director Tyler Black.

The open house will run on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 1-5 p.m. There will be speakers and light refreshments as well as tours of the property.
