Scientific testimony begins in Wangler trial

Prosecutors take a closer look into the failing marriage of the Lima anesthesiologist on trial for the aggravated murder of his wife through carbon monoxide poisoning.  They did so by reading Dr. Mark Wangler's alleged journals.

Lieutenant Clyde Breitigan reading passages from journals found at the Wangler home which the state believes were written by Dr. Wangler. The journals describe Dr. Wangler's marriage to his first wife Kathy as the biggest problem in his life.  Later passages describe that Dr. Wangler feels trapped with no escape.

The journals also shed details of an affair Dr. Wangler had early on in the couple's marriage.  Another passage describes a time when Dr. Wangler saw Kathy kiss another man.

The writings reveal suicidal thoughts as well. Including an excerpt from July 2006, just months before Kathy's death.

Wangler also allegedly writes that he is sensitive and keeps his anger in until he explodes.

Earlier in the day, experts also testified about soot collected from duct work, vents, and carpeting in the Wangler's home.

Experts testified that tracers of engine exhaust were found on the items. The defense pointed out that the particles can be found everywhere on earth. But prosecutors quickly had Dr. James Schauer clarify that he determined the particles developed quickly.

At least one more witness is expected to testify for the state.
