Judge sets bond at $1,000,000 for man charged in Perry Township shooting death

During the hearing, Striff said he filed a complaint against Paxton last week, and the shooting this week was in self-defense.

23-year-old Jacob Striff had a video arraignment in Lima Municipal Court on Thursday. Allen County deputies say that Striff shot and killed 41-year-old Jeffery Paxton Jr. in Striff's home on Charledon Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

During the hearing, Striff said he filed a complaint against Paxton last week, and the shooting this week was in self-defense.

"Striff said the victim was attacking with a screwdriver, and he retreated down and shot him," stated the police officer reading the report.

Striff interjected, "Before he had the chance to stab me. Right when he swung. When he swung that screwdriver, that's when I shot him."

Striff will return to Lima Municipal Court next week for his preliminary hearing.
