ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - An Ohio Supreme Court Justice shared important details to Allen County police chiefs and sheriff on a veteran treatment program.
Sharon Kennedy is connecting with police departments and court systems in order to continue to promote the Veterans Response Program, which aims to help veterans who are struggling with PTSD and other issues after serving their country. The program also enlists the help of veterans themselves in order to give a personal connection to those who are struggling. Kennedy says that the program has already helped a large number of people.
"Just one of the examples that they shared with me along with Easter Seals, who is their partner, is that they were able to save the life of a veteran who was going to commit suicide. And it was that connectivity that helped them reach him before he took his own life," said Sharon Kennedy, Ohio Supreme Court Justice.
Kennedy will also be attending the Veteran's Treatment Annual Summit that will take place in Columbus this year.
