A man accused of raping a teenage girl tries to get a letter and text messages omitted from his trial. 31-year-old Cornelius Ware Jr.'s lawyer is requesting that a letter to the victim and text messages sent to a witness be removed as evidence from his trial that is set to begin next week.
Ware was indicted on rape, gross sexual imposition, and sexual battery charges. Lima detectives say that he allegedly had sexual contact with the underage girl in September of 2020 after both of them had been drinking. His lawyer says the letter and text messages are not relevant to the case and could be prejudicial against his client during the trial. The judge will review the evidence and make his ruling on the motion in the next couple of days.
