Lima City Council met Monday evening and voted on legislation to build an amphitheater and community pool.
Council voted to approve a contract with Alvada Construction Company to construct phase 1 of the Lima Rotary Community Stage and Park Project which includes site protection, site utilities, building site preparation, and construction of the amphitheater and restrooms. The project will not exceed $2.18 million. They also approved an ordinance that will allow the city to apply for, accept, and expend Natural Resources and Parks and Recreation Facilities funds toward the construction of a new community pool.
Howard Elstro, City of Lima Director of Public Works said, “For about a year now the administration has been working to understand the feasibility of a new community pool. We’ve certainly found that there is public support for it.”
He continued saying, “At this point in time the State of Ohio is entertaining applications for funding of major infrastructure project and that would include a community pool like we are planning.”
Council approved a resolution memorializing the late Aaron Matthews, a Lima sports personality.
