Lima City Council votes to not change the Mayor's salary

After weeks of controversy, tonight's heated Lima City Council meeting's decision on the mayor's salary, ended in a 4-4 vote.

Meaning, the mayor's salary will stay the same. The motion to freeze the mayor's salary was shot down. After 45 minutes of debate, council members went into a temporary adjournment to seek legal advice. Members Sam McLean and Ann Miles voiced their opinions for the majority of the meeting on this matter.

Rebecca Kreher and Ann Miles react to the final decision.

"As a leader, as trying to bring unity among council members, I was hoping that we would agree to settle with this point here and then we would move on. There are so many other issues that are pending that we need to discuss as a council and we did not need to continue in this conversation," said council member Ann Miles.

"I voted no because of the overwhelming majority of voters who reached out to me and said what we have in the city of Lima, his pay is too high," said council member Rebecca Kreher.

Also decided tonight, council voted to purchase a forensic recovery of evidence device system, which will be used to gather digital evidence from hard drives during investigations.
