LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima YMCA celebrated a very special member on Wednesday.
Howard Lackey, a longtime member and participant in the Y's chair yoga program, celebrated his 100th birthday a few days early with family, friends and fellow members. Lackey was born and raised in Bath Township and has lived in the same home on Slabtown Road for nearly 75 years. He still drives himself to the grocery store, to church, and to the YMCA, where he attends chair yoga three days a week.
Staff and classmates surprised him after Wednesday's session with cake, photos and a special seat set up just for him.
"Well, I have to say, God's been good to me - that has to be it," Lackey said. "That's biggest majority of my explanation for it."
Lackey plans to spend his actual birthday weekend with family.
