LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima man is in custody as another is fighting for his life in a local hospital.
The Lima Police Department is not releasing the 36-year-old male victim's name but says he is in critical condition at a local hospital. They were called to the Greyhound Bus station on East High Street around 1 p.m. on Monday in reference to a stabbing. The victim was found suffering from a stab wound to the upper abdomen. After a short investigation, the Lima Police Department determined that the man was stabbed in the 100 block of South Central and walked to the bus station. They say that a verbal altercation began between the victim and 38-year-old Aaron Smith that escalated resulting in Smith stabbing the victim.
"It definitely makes our officers and detectives jobs much harder when the victim ends up at one scene but that's not the crime scene. There's a lot of credit that goes to the patrol officers, the detective, and the crime scene officers that do an excellent job working that almost backwards to find out exactly what happened," stated Sgt. Jason Garlock, Lima Police Department.
Smith was taken into custody and has been charged with suspension of felonious assault.
