The Lima Police COP officers threw a pizza party for the Lima Senior basketball squad, fresh off their win Thursday night at the University of Toledo for district play. The Spartans beat Holland Springfield, against whom they're 2-0 all-time. The boys won 57-48 Thursday night and Friday, got to enjoy good food and a good time.

"These kids understand that they're not just playing for themselves," said Lima Senior head coach Quincey Simpson. "They're playing for people around them, they're representing their families, the school system and the whole community entirely. We want to continue the path and keep going."

"You see them playing on the court and they're kind of like stars out there, they're doing a great job and it's fun to interact and have great conversations with them," said Lima COP Officer Eric Mericle.

This isn't the first pizza party thrown by the police department for Lima Senior. This event was first held during the team's undefeated season with Xavier Simpson. Lima Senior plays Perrysburg in the district finals, Saturday at 4:30, back at the University of Toledo.
