On off-election years, sometimes voters are not sure what will be on the ballot if anything.
Allen County Board of Elections director Kathy Meyer speaking at the Lima Rotary about the election process and the upcoming election in May. She encourages people to go to their website to see a sample ballot and where you are to vote. She says voter turnout during non-presidential elections is low as voters seem more concerned about federal and state issues rather than county and local ones.
"They don't take the time, they're more concerned about the federal or state candidates versus the local candidates. I don't think they realize what the local candidates can do for them, how they take care of the roads, how they take care of the drainage, how it all works and people really should be more informed," commented Kathy Meyer, Allen County Board of Elections director.
All Allen County precincts will be open as the regional transit authority has a sales tax levy on the ballot countywide. Voters will also be seeing and using the new voting equipment on May 7th.
