April 17, 2024, Press Release from the Lima Symphony Orchestra: Lima, OH (April 17, 2024) – The Lima Symphony Orchestra brings its annual Symphony Storytime to Findlay Hancock County Library this April. Throughout the season, the Lima Symphony brings Symphony Storytime programs to seven counties around Lima, extending the Symphony’s educational reach and impact. The program “Symphony Strings” pairs books about violinists and cellists alongside music provided by Lima Symphony string musicians. This event is the second part of the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation’s series of “Fun for All” events.
Details:
Monday, April 29 // 10:00 AM – Findlay Hancock County Public Library (206 Broadway St., Findlay, OH)
Children and their families will enjoy a free, interactive program thanks to generous sponsors of the Lima Symphony. The violin and the cello will be introduced through children’s literature including Rubin’s Violin by Gracey Zhang and I Know A Shy Fellow Who Swallowed a Cello by Barbara S. Garriel and illustrated by John O’Brien. Forming a string quartet, members from the Lima Symphony will perform excerpts from classical repertoire as well as the tune for “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly.” Children will learn what sets apart each of the instruments in a string quartet: violin, viola, and cello, and even be invited to sing along with our musicians!
