Mothers and their sons spent their Saturday night having a super time at the Lima Family YMCA.
The Y held a mother-son superhero party in the gymnasium. Attendants were encouraged to dress up as their favorite superheroes and hit the dance floor together. Nicole Kennedy surprised her two boys, Zander and Zayne, with some quality time at the event and by all accounts, they had a blast just being together.
"We didn't know it was happening because I got picked up and she told me it was a surprise," said Zander. "It was just like, oh, yay, we get to go!"
As for Kelli Wright and her son D'Vonte, they appreciated that the YMCA recognized mothers like to have special events for them and their sons.
"It's finally good to see the community do something for mothers and songs," said Wright. "It's always father-daughters and stuff like that so it's nice that the community finally came out and did something where a mom can spend time with her little boy."
The event was complete with a d-j and games, as well as all their favorite superhero characters.
