LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The United Way of Greater Lima recognizes a local bank with some hardware.
The Union Bank's "Sweets Christmas Tree" took home the highest bid.
The Union Bank location on Bellefontaine Avenue in Lima was awarded the "Traveling Christmas Tree Trophy." The trophy is given to the financial institution that raises the most money with their themed Christmas tree for the United Way of Lima's annual online auction, which is held in November every year.
Bidders logged on to United Way Lima's website and could bid on anything from sports tickets, dining experiences, knife-making classes, and much more. Christmas trees also were up for bid, and The Union Bank's "Sweets Christmas Tree" took home the highest bid.

After being presented with the trophy on Thursday, we caught up with Union Bank area manager Amy Vasquez.
"The Union Bank, being a community bank, we love doing anything that is going to pour into the community, so the United Way, obviously, is a huge community supporter, and we've always had a great relationship with the United Way, so when they approached us and asked if we wanted to be a part, I mean, it was a no-brainer. Plus you get to decorate a Christmas tree," said Amy Vaquesz, Allen County area manager for the Union Bank Co.
This was the first year that The Union Bank Co. participated in the United Way online auction, and they plan to do it again next year.
