The season of Lent is more than just giving up your favorite things, it's about giving back to help your fellow man.
Today is Ash Wednesday, which kicks of the 40 days of Lent, and Christians around the world were reminded through the sign of the cross in ashes on their forehead that they are dust and they will return to dust and now is the time to ask for repentance. During the season, St. Charles will be participating in the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl program, where they help collect money to help others around the world and in our area, as well as, be closer to God through fasting and prayer.
“This season is about baptism, whether you are preparing for baptism or have been baptized. Remember you are an ambassador for Christ. You are not going out to show off to others, but to show others who Christ is. The more that happens, when every Christian remembers and begins to do that, it’s really going to transform our world,” explained Father Kent Kaufman, St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
Lent ends on April 18th before the start of the Easter season on Good Friday.
