They wanted to help students in their next step with their education and decided what better way than providing textbooks.
The Smith Jones Family Foundation created the “Be Great Book Scholarship”. Since 2018 they have awarded over $17,000 in total scholarships. All graduating high school and home-schooled students are eligible. The foundation chose textbooks because that is a cost they say is always increasing for students.
Londell Smith is the foundation spokesperson and added, “That’s a niche, it’s an area that you don’t often hear of. So, we’re blessed to be in a position to be able to provide this support and we consider it an honor and a privilege to do so.”
Applications have been distributed to all Allen County schools guidance offices and are due back by Friday March 4th. You can learn more by emailing TheSJFFoundation@gmail.com.
