FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) - Thousands have visited the Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation this Christmas season for one of the most festive locomotive experiences in the region.
The North Pole Express is a popular display with both kids and adults, with hundreds of decorated trees, a room full of model train sets, an elf scavenger hunt, and of course, an eight-minute train ride through an LED winter wonderland.
Tickets are affordable, at $5 per adult and $3 per child under 12, and the special display helps to both fundraise for future events and educate families about railroad history with realistic train rides.
"We have two trains out there. One is a Prairie-style steam engine and it's coal-fired and that makes two laps around the track. And the other one is the historic Riverside Train that used to run along Riverside Park in Findlay here," said Mike Schroeder, a scheduler and board member of the Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation.
The last two days to hop aboard the North Pole Express are this upcoming Friday, Dec. 29th, and Saturday, Dec. 30th from 5:30 pm to 9 pm.
