A Delphos man accused of setting a woman on fire has given his attorney more time to prepare for his case.

Man accused of setting a woman on fire waives his right to a speedy trial

38-year-old David Youngpeter waived his right to a speedy trial in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court. Youngpeter is facing two counts of aggravated arson, and one count each of felonious assault and attempted murder. Investigators say Youngpeter doused the woman with gasoline and lit her on fire in his home at the beginning of September. When investigating, Delphos police went to his home and found him with minor burns and evidence of fire in the home. The woman was later treated at a toledo hospital burn unit. A pre-trial is set for December 2019.
