Man being held in connection to death of Ohio infant

911 Call: "There's a pickup truck part way up our drive way, pulled off in the mud, hung up. The truck is running. There's a little baby in there and he's dead in a child seat."

That's the 911 call that has left deputies in Mercer County trying to figure out what led to the death of a Springfield, Ohio infant. The call came from a homeowner yesterday afternoon, after they discovered the baby in a truck off Wabash Road in Washington Township. Deputies say the I.D. of the child's father, 22-year-old Brian Hayslip of Springfield, was found in the truck and Hayslip was tracked down in an open field, thanks to a police dog from Coldwater.

Hayslip is being held in Mercer County on a murder charge. WHIO TV reported that police became involved in the case after the child's mother reported the baby missing. An autopsy will be done by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office. Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey indicated late Wednesday they believe the death of the infant occurred in Clark County and that county will handle the prosecution of Hayslip.
