The three men that were charged in the homicide of 20-year-old Damere Oliphant appeared in court Wednesday for their preliminary hearing.
19-year-old Gavin Lauck, 19-year-old Dalton Duncan, and 20-year-old Collin Dysert all signed away their rights to a preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Lima Municipal Court. All three cases were transferred to the Allen Common Pleas Court.
Both Duncan and Dysert are being charged with complicity to murder, while Lauck is being charged with one count of murder. The shooting happened in the early hours of Monday, March 27, 2017, when Oliphant was found shot to death on the steps of the former Taco Bell at the corner of Shawnee Road and Cam Court. Shawnee Township Police say a witness saw a male run into a nearby apartment and after a search warrant, police were able to take Lauck, Duncan and Dysert, along with two other people into custody.
Lauck, Duncan, and Dysert could be looking at 15 years to life in prison. They all remain at the Allen County Jail on a $500,000 cash surety bond, each. Their cases are being presented to the Allen County Grand Jury to see if there will be any additional charges.
