Beyond the Call of Duty's "End of Watch Ride to Remember" stopped in Bluffton to support the community of the late Officer Dominic Francis, who was struck and killed by a suspect vehicle in 2022.

BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) - A local fallen police officer was included in a national project to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Family, coworkers, friends, and Bluffton residents came out to pay their respects, celebrate his life, and show appreciation for the danger he and other members of law enforcement routinely put themselves in to protect others. 

Beyond the Call of Duty's "End of Watch Ride to Remember" stopped in Bluffton to support the community of the late Officer Dominic Francis, who was struck and killed by a suspect vehicle in 2022. The memorial honors over 250 officers from across the country who died serving their communities in 2022 and 2023.

The "End of Watch Ride to Remember" has been on the road since June 1st, and by the end of their 73-day the trip, they will have visited 234 departments.

"I think it makes a huge impact on society to understand that everybody that's in law enforcement, we're human too, and we have families that we're trying to raise, and we do the best that we can on a daily basis to serve and protect," said Ryan Burkholder, the Chief of Police in Bluffton. "It was overwhelming, but in a good way, because it doesn't let anyone forget the legacy that he's left behind with the ultimate sacrifice that he has given."
