Today(11/12/19) marks the start of the 100-year celebration at the University of Northwestern Ohio with a new addition to the campus.
Near the center of campus, a new clock tower went up Tuesday morning. The university president says this signifies a precursor to the celebration to come when UNOH celebrates 100 years in Lima in 2020. The school was founded as Northwestern School of Commerce before transforming into what it is today. In 1992, the school established the first high-performance motorsports degree. The president says the school's staff deserves credit for its success.
"For the 534 that are here working now today, thank you for their hard work and all those in the past," UNOH President Dr. Jeff Jarvis said. "But we're excited about the future and we're excited about future growth and what we can do."
Jarvis says the university has a vision to build a new sports arena at some point in the area behind the clock tower.
