New Walmart prepares to open in Lima

Lima's new Walmart is just weeks away from its grand opening. Employees are putting the finishing touches on the store on Allentown Road.

Construction started last summer, after many years of discussing the idea. The grand opening on June 1 will mean the end of the Cable Road location.

The new store is 50,000 square feet bigger.  It will feature a full-line grocery center and bigger electronics department.

A larger store means more employees. All of the Cable Road Walmart's employees are transferring to the new Walmart, plus the store is doubling its employees.

The store manager says there is a definite need for the store, even though there is already a supercenter in LIma.  Walmart is still hiring new hourly workers.  For more information visit walmartstores.com.
