The Cheryl Allen Southside Community Center has been evicted from its building due to falling behind in rent payments, according to the building owners. Now the community wonders what will happen to the various services the center provided.
For years, the center provided community outreach services to the south side of Lima and more. Now, the building it called home since 1984 will temporarily remain an empty shell.
Services included commodities distribution, dinners, after-school programs and more. Now, Corley, former executive director Vickie Shruelds and the community work to restore those programs for the community through the help of the Church Women United, who own the building.
Corley has invited interested individuals to the building for a meeting monday evening at 6:30 to help build the the new organization. She hopes the meeting draws potential board members as well.
