LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's that time of year to start thinking about recognizing someone in your life who has gone above and beyond helping others.
Nominations are now being sought for the 2025 Jefferson Awards for Public Service.
Nominations are now being sought for the 2025 Jefferson Awards for Public Service. The national award was started in 1972 and has grown into a recognition program that highlights the volunteer service of thousands of individuals and organizations across the nation. Locally, more than 200 people have been Jefferson Award recipients since its start here in 2001. Each year one person is picked to move on to the national level.
Last year's winner, David Bates with Warriors Way, was the first from our region to win a national award and says the recognition his program received has been game-changing. They have moved to a bigger building and plan on expanding their programming.
"I see exponentially in the future with adding maker space camps that are free for the community to youth archery programs. Just to keep adding what we can do and how we can give back to the community and different type programs that just brings everybody out," said David Bates, Warriors Way founder.
