LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – If you are Amateur Radio enthusiasts or just curious about the hobby, Hamfest was the place to be Saturday morning.
The Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club hosted the event to give people from across the region interested in ham radios the chance to upgrade their equipment or to learn more about amateur radio. This is only the second time the club has hosted Hamfest following COVID, and they want to help spread the word about their hobby and the importance amateur radio plays during natural disasters.

“Ham radio is really important in natural disasters. It's one of the only emergency communication systems that stayed up during like hurricanes, tornadoes, and so if anything happened like that, here in Ohio, our club would be there to help communicate with emergency services and the public,” says Laci Graham, VP, The Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club.
There are over 750,000 licensed ham operators ranging from nine years old to 100 years old across the United States. If you would like to learn more about the Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club, log on to https://www.nwoarc.com/.
