The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Honda and LG Energy Solutions are teaming up to build a vehicle battery factory, possibly in Ohio.
The cost of the project is 4.4 billion dollars, and construction is expected to begin next year with the plant being operational in 2025. But there is no word yet where the factory will be built, but the Wall Street Journal says according to their sources it is being planned for Ohio.
Honda has announced that they plan on launching 30 electric vehicles by 2030 and the plant will produce batteries exclusively for Honda vehicles assembled in North America, including the company's Acura luxury brand. Governor Mike DeWine says that they would like to see Honda expand their operations in Ohio since it has been the center of their vehicle production for nearly 40 years.
