A.I. GENERIC

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WLIO) — Ohio lawmakers are moving forward with legislation aimed at regulating artificial intelligence-generated content.

The Ohio Senate passed a bipartisan bill that would establish new rules for AI-generated images, videos and other digital media. Under the proposed law, AI companies would be required to place a watermark on content created using artificial intelligence to notify viewers that the material was AI-generated. The legislation would also make it illegal for anyone to remove those watermarks.

If approved, the bill would also prohibit the creation, sale or reproduction of AI-generated obscene content involving minors. The legislation now moves to the Ohio House for further discussion and consideration.
