Part of the Stardust science series was a talk from Ohio State Assistant Professor Zakee Sabree about the work that he and his research group at Ohio State have been doing with studying microbes and how they affect nutrients in natural systems. Sabree says that students can help out with the kind of work he does by bringing in a fresh perspective.
"What has been unfortunately lacking is that you have a lot of well-funded labs they can ask a lot of these questions, but what I’m doing in part is bringing new tools that would allow the classroom teachers, the K-12 space that they too can contribute to new discoveries about how microbes are benefiting macrobes," said Sabree, who is with the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology at Ohio State.
Sabree will also be connecting with students to discuss science career paths in the near future.
