KALIDA, OHIO (WLIO) - There were over 400 entries in the Pioneer Days parade in 2024.
Marching bands from Putnam County high schools, businesses, and organizations lined the parade route throughout Kalida for the 152nd year of Pioneer Days. The festival and the parade are big draws for people from miles around.

The last time Margaret was in the parade was 1952, when she was a majorette for the Kalida band.
One person that came from Texas was Margaret Sybert. The last time Margaret was in the parade was 1952, when she was a majorette for the Kalida band. At 91, she is leading the band she loves again, thanks to her kids.
“I was shocked; it was kind of different. I think it was very nice of those people to do that,” says Sybert.
Reporter asked, “What does Kalida mean to you?”
“Well, it’s where I was raised; I went to 12 years of school here. I always thought it was a beautiful town,” adds Sybert.
Pioneer Days wrapped up Sunday night with some big money drawing. The big-ticket prize was $10,000, and the Golden Ticket prize was $152K.
