Part of the "Back to Our Roots" tour took U.S. Secretary Sonny Perdue to Amherst Greenhouse.
Joined by Administrator Linda McMahon the two toured the four-acre greenhouse and spoke with owner Adin Horst about his operation. Horst said he and his wife began with a 200 square foot greenhouse in 2001 just for their flowers. When he saw the demand for flowers, he expanded to 1800 square feet. He steadily continued to grow reaching his four acres now. Horst said he's amazed at how popular his small business has been. Horst was surprised the two cabinet members wanted to visit his business.
Amherst Greenhouse opens for the season April 20th at 9 a.m.
