27-year-old Christopher Peters is back in court for day three of his trial after being accused of killing the 15-month-old son of his former girlfriend.
On day three of Peters' trial, the state brought out a few witnesses, a detective from the Delphos Police Department, a Criminal Analyst Investigator and Eldon Howe-Anderson who was in the same cell block as Peters after he was arrested for the murder. Howe-Anderson took the stand and says Peters told him details about what happened on the night Hayden Ivan Ridinger died and how he got the scratches on his body.
Howe-Anderson also says Peters told him "he wished he would just get the death penalty because he couldn't live with what he did". The state prosecutors also presented the jury with a video of a Delphos Detective interrogating Peters, who was trying to figure out what happened the night that Hayden died.
Detective: “It’s not like you Chris, something made you snap. What the hell happened? What happened? Tell me, Chris you need to tell me. It’s your a** in jail here brother, okay? Chris tell me what happened. I just want the truth, I can deal with the truth Chris. We can deal with it,”
Peters: The only thing i can think of is he pulled the vacuum on top of him,
Detective: "Is there anything else that happened earlier that night?
Peters: "Before I put him to bed yeah, he was just like angry."
Detective: "This thing fall on him?"
Peters: “Yes!”
Defense Attorney Bill Kluge issued a subpoena for Valarie Dean, the mother of Hayden, she'll be taking the stand on Thursday. Dean is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.
