LIMA, OH (WLIO) - For more than 35 years the Lima Noon Sertoma Club has been helping children with developmental speech assistance.
Each summer, they offer speech and hearing clinics to fill the gap for kids that normally have speech and hearing programs during the school year. They see dozens of families take part in their summer program and today they were able to spend some quality time together in fellowship at their annual picnic. Parents are very grateful to the Sertoma Club for offering this much-needed service when school is out.
"They evaluate him during the school year to see if he's qualified to be in speech therapy throughout the summer," explained Jody Swisher, whose son is in summer speech program. "He does have speech therapy through his school at Bluffton throughout the school year. But then there's the gap over summer and this program helps him with his speech therapy through the summer."
The youngsters and their families also get to know each other and some even had time to do a little dancing during the picnic.
