A frustrating and, at times, hazardous commute home from work in Lima today, as heavy rains hit right around 5:30 in the evening.
There was a car caught up in high water on the Elm Street underpass near Central Avenue in Lima. Our cameras there as police began arriving. Initial reports leading officers to believe people might still be trapped in the vehicle, but people at the scene saying the car was empty. It took only minutes for the heavy rain to completely cover the vehicle except for the roof rack.
There were also reports of cars also being caught up in high water at the Metcalf Street underpass and on Pine Street, and on North Street. There were multiple reports of high water blocking roadways in and around Lima. Police put out a call for people to stay home if possible.
At this time there is no word on any injuries from the flooding.
