LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — As a blast of cold temperatures is set to hit the area over the next few days, the Area Agency on Aging 3 says help is available for senior citizens who need assistance keeping their heat on this winter.
The Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, helps Ohioans at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines for households of up to seven members pay their heating bills. The Area Agency on Aging can also help residents organize the necessary documents to complete the HEAP application.
“We have a winter crisis program that did start on November 31 or runs through March 31 that is for individuals who are facing a disconnect notice with being so cold, reach out. We can definitely take a look see what we can assist you with about getting some assistance for those utilities,” said Jessie Roberts, Area Agency on Aging 3.
Senior citizens who need help with heating assistance can call the Area Agency on Aging 3 at (419) 222-7723 for more information. Applications can also be completed online at www.energyhelp.ohio.gov.
